WOODSTOCK SAYS:
I'd approached Brian Willoughby about doing some recording after Marc Johnson offered me a chance to put a couple of tracks on the Big Note CD. I'd met Brian the previous year when he was working with Jim Diamond, whom I knew from my days as a rock journalist. I slipped him a demo and he liked it enough to agree to give it a go. While we were jamming at his flat he said "You're a mate of Zoot Money's, aren't you? Why don't you ask him to play keyboards?" "I couldn't," I said. "He's far too famous." Brian handed me the phone and I called him anyway, braced for a tolerant rejection. It never came. "Is that all?" Zoot asked suspiciously when I put the suggestion to him. "I thought you were going to ask me to produce your album." "I was just warming you up," I lied, realising that it might actually happen if I played my cards right. These four songs were the first we recorded, before the other guys
came in. There are two versions of Road Movie, one of which contains
Bruise Jam and The first edition of this, on cassette (200 copies) sold out, which was nice, as did the first CD pressing. This is the third edition. It's exactly the same as the first except this time it has a slightly different cover. If there is a single it's England, because that's the one which has had the most airplays. Individual song details are on the Road Movie page.
